Workplace Flexibility – Trust and benefits

Workplace flexibility yields benefits for both employer and employee, but it requires trust. Employers are constantly looking for ways to ensure that employees are happy and content whilst also ensuring the output/contribution from employees is maintained or enhanced.

The benefits of workplace flexibility are enormous including increasing the size of the available talent pool to the organization and the promotion and enhancement of change, within an organization.

There are clearly challenges in providing workplace flexibility, such as inability to simply approach a colleague to discuss a delicate issue, the sometimes ‘sterile’ nature of written text or verbal conversation over the phone or internet and the potential abuse by some employees.

If however employers and employees can show each other mutual respect and trust, this is a great start and the resulting benefits can be substantial.
